Stephen Demont Lucas, 51 of Benton Harbor, MI de- parted this life on March 29, 2020 at Spartanburg Re- gional Hospital in Spartanburg, SC. He was born on October 29, 1968 to the late Lena Patricia Lucas of Grand Rapids, MI and the late John Whitelow of Benton Harbor, MI. He was a fun loving, hard work- ing man. Stephen dedicated his life to Christ in 2008 at Union Grove Baptist Church. He also attended Re- demption Outreach Ministries regularly.
Stephen was a carpenter for Carolina Specialties Con- struction. He was known amongst all of his co-workers as “Jack of all trades.” He enjoyed casual landscaping,
riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family any way he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lena Patricia Lucas and John Whitelow, his grandfather, John Napler and several uncles, cousins and one aunt,
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Emma Lynette Lucas of Boiling Springs, SC, three sons, Jermichael O’Brian Tanner of Charleston, SC, Tyler Dayor Tanner and Tyrone Jaqweze Tanner of Boiling Springs, SC, five grandchildren, Elijah Tanner, Malisah Campbell, Jordan Miller Tanner and Brielle Tanner, multiple siblings, including Albert Derrick Burton of Benton Harbor, MI, one God daugh- ter, Jekeila Taylor of South Bend, IN, a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of which he held dear to his heart. He also spoke very high of his very special grandmother, Opal Napler and his uncles , Timothy and John Napler who all played a vital roll in his upbringing.
